Google introduces Ask Advisor (formerly Ads Advisor): what advertisers need to know

Google introduces Ask Advisor 1024x768

Monday morning, 8:17 AM. Your first cup of coffee is still untouched next to your laptop when a client calls with the question that every Google Ads specialist gets sooner or later:

Why have my conversions dropped since last week?

You open Google Ads. Then Google Analytics. Next, the change history, your reporting dashboard, and probably three more spreadsheets that no one remembers exactly who created them anymore. Before you know it, you have twelve tabs open and your coffee is cold.

Recognizable?

Google thinks this can be done smarter. That is why the company is introducing Ask Advisor , an AI-powered assistant that can analyze campaigns, answer questions, suggest optimizations, and implement certain changes with your approval.

So this is not just another shiny AI button in Google Ads. Ask Advisor can significantly change the way agencies manage, analyze, and optimize campaigns.

But how good is it really? And perhaps even more importantly: can we use the tool already?

What is Google Ask Advisor?

Ask Advisor is a Gemini-powered AI assistant that helps marketers analyze campaigns, troubleshoot problems, and perform optimizations. The tool combines the former Ads Advisor and Analytics Advisor into a single environment and is currently in beta for eligible English-speaking accounts.

Google describes Ask Advisor as an interactive, agentic conversational feature. That word 'agentic' plays an important role.

A standard chatbot answers a question. An AI agent attempts to combine multiple steps to help you achieve a specific goal. Therefore, Ask Advisor can not only tell you that a campaign is underperforming, but also investigate why, suggest possible solutions, and implement changes after you give your consent.

For example, you can ask the tool:

  • Which campaign caused the biggest drop in conversions last week?
  • Why have the cost per lead for this campaign increased?
  • Which keywords can I add to my new campaign?
  • How can I improve this Performance Max campaign?
  • Why was this advertisement disapproved?
  • Can you suggest new headlines for this ad group?

The idea is simple: you ask a question as you would ask a colleague, after which Ask Advisor uses the information from the account to formulate a personalized answer.

From Ads Advisor and Analytics Advisor to one Ask Advisor

The naming can cause some confusion. Initially, Google communicated about two separate tools: Ads Advisor for Google Ads and Analytics Advisor for Google Analytics.

In May 2026, Google subsequently announced Ask Advisor. This is the new, overarching experience that connects AI agents from Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Marketing Platform, and ultimately Merchant Center, among others. Google now explicitly describes Ask Advisor as the successor to Ads Advisor and Analytics Advisor.

Why is that merger interesting?

Because marketing data rarely stays neatly in one place. A campaign can generate many clicks in Google Ads, while you discover in Analytics that visitors barely get past the landing page. A webshop can receive plenty of traffic, but meanwhile have problems with product information in Merchant Center.

Ask Advisor is designed to bring those loose puzzle pieces closer together. Less jumping back and forth between platforms. More cohesion.

At least, that is the promise.

What can Ask Advisor do in Google Ads?

The current beta supports various tasks related to campaign management, troubleshooting, reporting, and optimization.

Part What Ask Advisor can help do Potential value for agencies
Performance analysis Investigate changes in clicks, conversions, and other statistics Make an initial diagnosis faster
Campaign optimization Make suggestions for bids, budgets, and campaign settings Investigate more scenarios in less time
Advertising material Suggest headings, descriptions, and images Reach a first creative version faster
Keywords Generate new keyword ideas Accelerate keyword research and expansion
Policy problems Explain why ads have been disapproved and show possible solutions Spend less time troubleshooting
Reporting Generate reports, graphs, and analyses Faster preparation of customer updates
Invoicing and verification Answering questions about payments and identity verification Understand operational problems faster

Ask Advisor can also suggest images. According to Google, these are based on the landing page or generated using Google AI. Furthermore, the tool can answer questions about policies, billing, verification, and campaigns that are suddenly underperforming.

Moreover, Google is further expanding the tool in 2026 with, among other things, mobile use, additional security features, and new capabilities for reporting and data visualization. However, not every announced feature needs to be immediately visible in every account.

Why Ask Advisor is interesting for marketing agencies

Marketing professional analyzes Google Ads data with Ask Advisor on a tablet.

For an individual advertiser, Ask Advisor can be useful. For an agency that manages multiple accounts daily, the impact can be even greater.

1. You can get to the core of a problem faster.

Imagine this familiar scenario: on Friday afternoon at 3:47 PM, an important advertisement is rejected. The campaign needs to go live on Monday, the client expects results, and no one feels like sifting through policy documentation all weekend.

Ask Advisor can help explain why the ad was disapproved and what steps might be needed to resolve the problem.

That does not mean you should follow the advice blindly. However, it can significantly shorten the initial investigation phase. Instead of starting from scratch, you begin with a possible diagnosis.

2. Reporting can become less time-consuming

Reporting still takes a surprising amount of time within many agencies. Not because the figures are difficult to find, but because someone has to collect, compare, interpret, and translate them into understandable language.

Ask Advisor can, for example, help with questions such as:

Which campaigns had the biggest growth this month, and what caused that growth?

Or:

Show which campaigns incurred higher costs but generated fewer conversions.

The benefit lies not only in collecting data. The tool also attempts to explain the story behind the numbers. This provides account managers with an initial starting point for their analysis and client meetings.

3. Creative production gets off to a flying start

We all know that moment when you need ten more ad headlines, while your inspiration is hiding somewhere under a pile of other deadlines.

Ask Advisor can generate headings, descriptions, keywords, and image suggestions. That first draft doesn't have to be perfect (and probably won't always be), but a rough version is often easier to improve than an empty text field.

The specialist remains necessary to safeguard the tone of voice, proposition, brand guidelines, and commercial acumen. AI can set the ball rolling. We ultimately determine where that ball goes.

4. Knowledge becomes more accessible within the team

Not every team member has the same experience. A senior SEA specialist recognizes certain patterns almost immediately, while a junior might need longer to find the right reports or settings.

Ask Advisor can serve as a first sparring partner. A junior can ask why a bidding strategy is not collecting sufficient data or what factors might be behind a rising CPA.

That does not make specialized knowledge superfluous. On the contrary. The value of experienced marketers is shifting more towards control, interpretation, coaching, and strategic decision-making.

5. Less switching between separate tools

The ultimate goal of Ask Advisor is bigger than just Google Ads. Google wants to connect various marketing products and data sources so that the assistant can take into account goals, past actions, and results from multiple environments.

That is attractive to agencies. Every minute not lost to searching, exporting, and copying can be spent on strategy, creativity, and contact with clients.

The main limitation for agencies: no MCC support

Ask Advisor is currently unavailable in My Customer Center accounts , better known as MCC or manager accounts. Google explicitly mentions this limitation in the Help Center.

For marketing agencies, that is no small footnote.

Many agencies manage their client accounts from a single central MCC. Ask Advisor cannot currently be used directly there. In practice, therefore, you will need to check for each individual client account whether it is eligible and whether the Ask Advisor beta icon is visible in the top right corner.

That makes large-scale deployment less smooth for the time being. You cannot yet analyze dozens of accounts from a single central environment with the same AI agent.

Google may change this later, but as far as the public documentation indicates on July 10, 2026, there is no concrete date for MCC support yet.

Ask Advisor is an assistant, not an autopilot.

It is tempting to think: great, Google will optimize its own campaigns from now on. Close the laptop. Done.

Of course, it is not that simple.

Google emphasizes that advertisers remain responsible for the accuracy and relevance of accepted recommendations. Proposed changes are only applied after approval, but that approval must be based on a critical review.

Moreover, Ask Advisor does not automatically know all the information that an agency takes into account in its decisions:

  • the profit margin per product;
  • agreements with the customer;
  • internal stock problems;
  • the quality of incoming leads;
  • seasonal influences;
  • brand positioning;
  • commercial priorities outside of Google Ads.

A campaign may yield more conversions on paper, while the sales department reports that the leads are hardly relevant. The AI sees the measured conversion. The specialist sees the bigger picture.

So, it cuts both ways. Ask Advisor can analyze and execute faster, but incorrect advice can also be implemented more quickly when no one is critically reviewing the situation.

When will Google Ask Advisor be officially available?

Google Ask Advisor Beta with a calendar and question mark regarding the official availability date.

As of July 10, 2026, Ask Advisor is still in beta. Google indicates that the tool is available for compatible English-language accounts. If your account has access, an icon with the text Ask Advisor (beta) will appear in the upper right corner of Google Ads.

Google speaks about new features being rolled out in the coming months, but does not mention an exact date in the public information on which:

  • the beta officially ends;
  • get access to all Google Ads accounts;
  • MCC accounts are supported;
  • a complete Dutch version becomes available.

In short: Ask Advisor is no longer merely a future plan, but neither is it yet a universally available standard feature.

For Dutch agencies, it is advisable to regularly check English-language client accounts. Don't see the icon yet? That doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong. The account may simply not yet have been admitted to the phased beta.

This way, agencies can prepare.

You don't have to wait for a full rollout to develop an approach. In fact, anyone who thinks about processes and controls now will avoid a lot of makeshift solutions later on.

Start with analysis tasks

Initially, use Ask Advisor for questions where the risk is limited. For example, let the tool investigate performance declines, compare campaigns, or prepare reports.

This way, you learn how reliable and useful the answers within different accounts are, without immediately making major changes.

Build an internal prompt library

A vague question usually yields a vague answer. “How is my campaign going?” is less useful than:

Compare the conversions, cost per conversion, and conversion value of this campaign with the previous four weeks. Identify the three biggest changes and possible causes.

Establish clear prompts for each task: diagnosis, reporting, optimization, creation, and policy issues. This way, not every team member has to reinvent the wheel every time.

Set up a control process

Determine which proposals a specialist may approve independently and when a second pair of eyes is needed.

A new ad headline is different from a substantial budget increase. Therefore, treat both differently.

Document both good and bad advice

AI tools are getting better, but that doesn't mean every answer hits the mark. Keep track of which questions yield strong results and where Ask Advisor misses the mark.

That knowledge becomes valuable as soon as more customer accounts gain access.

Use AI to strengthen expertise

Ask Advisor shouldn't stand alongside your agency process. The tool needs to fit into it.

At Optimize Digital Marketing, we therefore see the greatest value not in “AI taking over everything,” but in a combination of speed and human control. The AI helps us find signals faster. The marketer determines which signals truly matter.

Will Ask Advisor replace Google Ads specialists?

No. But it can change certain tasks.

Tasks such as gathering data, formulating simple explanations, writing initial ad variants, and researching known problems can take less time. As a result, the added value of a specialist shifts further towards:

  • strategy;
  • measurability;
  • positioning;
  • creative direction;
  • customer communication;
  • quality control;
  • commercial interpretation.

Ultimately, a client doesn't pay an agency to push buttons. A client pays for better decisions.

Ask Advisor can tell where smoke is visible. A good specialist determines whether it is a small burnt bun or a serious fire.

Our conclusion about Google Ask Advisor

Ask Advisor could grow into one of the most significant AI changes within the Google marketing ecosystem. The tool brings together analysis, optimization, creation, and problem-solving in a conversational environment.

For agencies, the greatest opportunities lie in time savings, faster diagnoses, and more accessible data. At the same time, critical review and account knowledge remain indispensable. The beta has limitations, does not yet work via MCC accounts, and does not yet have a definitive date for full or Dutch-language availability.

Our advice? Treat Ask Advisor as a smart sparring partner. Not as the undisputed captain of the ship.
